ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

The second edition of the Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee (REMAC) of New York City Basic and Advanced Life Support Prehospital Treatment Protocols is the culmination of the efforts of many individuals who have served on the Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee of New York City, the Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee Basic Life Support Subcommittee, and the Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee Advanced Life Support Subcommittee. This document reflects the changing field of out-of-hospital emergency medicine and the continuous attempts of the emergency medical and trauma communities in all provider sectors (municipal, voluntary hospital, proprietary, and volunteer), acting in concert, to provide high-quality, state-of-the-art, out-of-hospital emergency medical care to emergently ill and injured adults and children in the New York City region.

The task of updating, editing, revising, and reconciling the Basic Life Support Protocols, both the Emergency Medical Technician and the Certified First Responder Protocols, was the work of the Basic Life Support Subcommittee, chaired by Carl Nolte, MD and the Basic Life Support Protocol Subcommittee, chaired by Arthur Cooper, MD. The following individuals served on the Subcommittee:
