  1. Begin Basic Life Support Eye Injuries procedures.

  2. If the patient is agitated or unable to hold eyelid open, instill Proparacaine HCl 0.5% solution, 1-2 gtts. topically, into the affected eye(s). The initial dose may be repeated only once.

  3. Transportation decision.
